About The Swedish Cancer Society
When the Swedish Cancer Society was founded by two cancer survivors in the 1950s, only three out of ten people survived a cancer diagnosis. We are the leading cancer charity in Sweden, dedicated to saving lives through research, advocacy, information and support.
We finance research. We work to beat cancer faster through financing the best cancer research in Sweden.
We inform and support. We strive to inform and support everyone affected by cancer, both those with cancer and next of kin, by spreading information about cancer, treatments and research as well as through our support line.
We make change happen. Politics plays an important role in the fight to beat cancer and our advocacy work is very important. Politicians decide the preconditions for prevention, health care and research.
Today, more than two out of three people survive, but more research is needed to beat cancer.
